Choosing a Surf Lesson

• When is the best time to schedule a surfing lesson?

  Our surf lessons are available every day throughout the year, conditions permitting. The ocean is constantly changing. We rely on surf and weather charts as well as our expertise of the local surfing conditions.

• I’ve never been surfing, is that a problem?

  Sharing the joy of surfing with a first-time surfer is one of our favorite things to do! We are with you every step of the way, creating a fun, positive and memorable surfing experience.

• Is surfing still a viable option for me, despite my age?

  At Laguna Surf Lessons we welcome students of all ages! Our private one-on-one lessons are great for kids as young as 5 to adults in their 70’s. Our group lessons are perfect for ages 7 and up, provided they are competent swimmers. No matter your age or experience we are here to help you enjoy the magic of surfing!

• What if I am not a strong swimmer or have a fear of the ocean, are surfing lessons an option for me?

  Yes, we love to help people overcome any fear of the ocean and embrace the beauty and joy it has to offer! Our goal is for you to feel safe, have fun and transform your fear into a love for the ocean.

• What can I anticipate during my first surfing lesson?

  Before hitting the water, we’ll start with land demonstrations to teach you the fundamentals of reading waves/ocean conditions, standing up, board handling, ocean safety, and surf etiquette. Afterwards, we’ll move to the water and put these skills into practice.

• At what age should a child start surfing and which surf lesson should I choose?

  When considering the appropriate age for a child to begin surfing, we offer private one-on-one lessons for children as young as 5 years old.

• Am I required to sign a Waiver of Liability prior to the start of my lesson?

  Yes. Our waiver is electronically sent to you at the time of booking and must be completed and signed, prior to the start of your surf lesson.
